About us
Run by the people it serves
Established in August 2015, RULP is a civil society organisation advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with short stature in Rwanda. We serve over 367 members across eight districts.

A membership organisation, not a charity for others
The Rwanda Union of Little People was established as a civil society organisation in August 2015, following discussions with its members about the challenges they met in daily life. Education levels were very low and poverty was extreme among little people in Rwanda — made worse by social stigma and cultural attitudes. RULP advocates on behalf of its members for equal rights for people with short stature.
We believe in community-driven change. Our programmes are designed and delivered by people with short stature, which is why they address what our members actually need.
Where we intend to be
- Reach all 30 districts of Rwanda
- Establish a national resource centre for people with short stature
- Launch a scholarship programme for young people with dwarfism
How we account for what we receive
RULP is answerable to its members and to the institutions that fund the work.
- Independent audit every year
- Detailed project reports and financial statements
- Robust financial management systems in place
